Numerous studies deal with the control of avian migration, ranging from captive studies to tracking of fry-living birds but in many different species. We aimed a holistic approach in a single species, the Northern Wheatear, the songbird with the globally most extended migration system, by combing field studies with studies in captivity including cross-breeding and applying transcriptomics and lipidomics. The talk will sketch some of our results but will also briefly outline what I am aiming as Fellow at MPIAB post-Corona.
