Main Focus

My research is focused on migration and social navigation of birds. I’m particularly interested in understanding flock dynamics with regards to decision making and information transfer, and how that may affect foraging and migration of individuals. In parallel, I would like to understand on how long distance migrants manage to cross over landscape barriers such us sea stretches, and mountain ranges, and what the consequences of doing so are. In previous research projects I studied foraging ecology of shorebirds, with emphasis on the impacts of light pollution and predator-prey interactions; and habitat use of tropical birds and bats.
