Main Focus

I have been involved with research on biological clocks, evolution, and animal behaviour, and have worked with flies, fish, and now, locusts. I am interested in broader principles underlying synchronized or coordinated behaviour, and the effects of individual variation in tendencies and motivations on the organization of groups of animals. Currently, I am looking at how collective foraging in locusts is modulated by food quality and individual nutritional states, using a combination of experiments and agent based models.
