Main Focus
The dynamics of large animal collectives is mediated through local interactions, and in the hydrodynamic limit (i.e. a large number of individuals) can be described using a fluid mechanics approach. The extent to which this is an accurate description is one of my main research interests, and I am studying this topic through the combination of simulations and quantitative analysis of experimental data for large numbers of individuals.
