Main Focus

For competitive foragers like chimpanzees, efficient food processing is important to secure sufficient nutritious intake. Skillful food processing plays a particular role for complex food items; item, that require a multi-step pre-ingestive processing sequence. I’m collecting data on processing techniques of two populations of eastern chimpanzees on a highly complex fruit species.

I’m working under the project of Nora Slania on learning mechanisms in wild chimpanzees. The data is being collected at the Budongo Conservation Field Station and the Bugoma Primate Conservation Project in Uganda.
