Who doesn't know ZDF's high-gloss nature series TerraX, broadcast at prime time on Sunday evenings?
SCHLAUE SCHWÄRME achieved particularly high ratings among the other TerraX episodes. The background behind the episodes: The two episodes aired alongside the film adaptation of Frank Schätzing's novel DER SCHWARM. Parts of the episodes can be watched during our movie night - but not only that: The nature filmmaker Robin Jähne will be a guest and discuss the filming process. In addition, three scientists from the Cluster of Excellence Centre for the Advanced Study of Collective Behaviour at the University of Konstanz, Iain Couzin, Heiko Hamann and Christoph Kleineidam, will be there to provide background information.
The concept: swarm behaviour should be observed in nature if possible. Researchers explain and show how the gained knowledge can be applied. "In the Imaging Hangar, the largest swarm research laboratory at the University of Konstanz, an obstacle course was set up for ants to display the transport logistics", reports Jähne. There will be more exciting stories and anecdotes at the film presentation. Scientists and the nature filmmaker are there available for questions.
