The white stork is an icon of migration, famous for providing the first concrete evidence that animals travel between continents. Andrea Flack studies their migration as a social behaviour. By tracking hundreds of storks during their annual migrations, her team investigates how social interactions shape the countless decisions the birds make along their remarkable journeys.
