Wintering areas and habitats of European Honey Buzzards in Western Africa
Bird Movements and Animal Marking Research Group
What’s the project about?
As we know from GPS tracking data, European Honey Buzzards spend their winter in a couple of pretty well defined areas in western Africa. It is time to have a first, investigative look into these data to see where the wintering sites are, how large they are, how often they change during winter, how the habitat looks like and much more (plenty of space for own ideas). This will be work with animal tracking data in Movebank and remote sensing data on the behavior of a most fascinating long-distance migrating raptor.
