Main Focus

I study the ecology of communities on our rapidly changing planet.

My research leverages ecological forecasting and experimental biology to understand how the ecological processes that bind communities together respond to environmental variability. Over the years, this has involved developing new ways to collect, integrate, and cohesively model both animal and plant data in ways that highlight the importance of community structure and evolutionary history. A better understanding of these processes allows us to forecast and mitigate how complex systems respond to changes in climate, land-use, and resource distribution.
