Media promotion is more than a press release…
It is a hectic, time-consuming project that starts weeks before publication and can end weeks after. It is also a meaningful way of sharing our science with people—our community, politicians, and society at large. When done well, working with the media can get people talking about your research and can even shift the cultural conversation towards a greater respect for non-human animals. And, it can help you hone the communication skills that will serve you throughout your career.
Whether you're a novice or have spoken to journalists before, there are steps you can take to prepare properly for working with the media. Join MPI-AB's media officer, Carla Avolio, to learn the tips and tricks she has picked up shepherding scientists through the highs and lows of the seductive rollercoaster ride known as "media outreach."
