Effect of Landfill Foraging on Migratory Decisions of White storks

Several opportunistic species have become increasingly reliant on anthropogenic food subsidies, such as landfills, which provide a stable and low-cost food source. This behavioural shift can have important consequences for other key life-history strategies, including migration. In this talk, I will present findings from my first PhD chapter on how White Storks from Poland use landfills both at their natal sites and along their migratory flyway, and how this adaptation influences their migratory decisions.
