DESCRIPTION:Vultures play a vital ecological role as obligate scavengers\,
yet they are among the most threatened bird groups worldwide\, facing crit
ical challenges such as poisoning\, habitat change\, and human-wildlife co
nflict. As highly mobile species\, their survival depends on understanding
how they interact with dynamic landscapes and threats. In this presentati
on I will showcase how movement ecology—particularly GPS tracking data
—can be leveraged to inform and enhance vulture conservation. By integra
ting behavioral ecology\, spatial risk assessment\, and demographic analys
is across multiple vulture species and regions\, I illustrate how tracking
data can uncover patterns of threat exposure\, inform targeted mitigation
strategies\, and improve our understanding of population dynamics. This a
pproach not only supports more effective conservation planning but also of
fers a scalable framework for addressing the survival challenges of other
 wide-ranging\, threatened species.\nVortragende(r): Andrea Santangeli
