Linking Conservation & Movement Ecology in the Study of Migratory Raptors
As scientists, we aim to make a meaningful impact on the world through our studies. But what is more important – fundamental ecological research or applied conservation research? In my recent studies, I tried to find ways to integrate both fields. I will share some of my work on two endangered raptor species, focusing on the link between movement ecology and conservation ecology. I will present insights regarding behavioral ontogeny and migratory proficiencies of these species and their implications for conservation, along with evaluations of the efficiency of conservation efforts. Building on these findings, I will share some thoughts about how to bridge the gap between movement ecology and conservation ecology.
