The Max Planck Institute of Animal Behavior at its sites in Konstanz and Radolfzell offers an international, interdisciplinary, and collaborative environment that opens up unique research opportunities. The goal of our basic research is to develop a quantitative and predictive understanding of the decisions and movements of animals in their natural environment.

The Department of Collective Behavior at the Max Planck Institute of Animal Behavior would like to fill the position of a Business Coordinator (m/f/d) (50 %) – Academic & Market Research Coordination. The workplace will be in Konstanz, Germany.

Background

We’re developing next-generation software for automated analysis of animal social behavior through a startup spinoff project funded by Max Planck Innovation’s MAX!mize program. Our platform makes behavioral analysis tools accessible for research and industry applications.

Your tasks

  • Coordinate interactions with academic and non-academic partners for research projects
  • Conduct market research and competitive analysis to support business development
  • Assist with financial analysis and reporting
  • Facilitate communication between technical teams and external stakeholders
  • Organize meetings, workshops, and partnership activities
  • Maintain project documentation and partnership databases

Your profile

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or related field (completed or in progress)
  • Fluency in German, English and a second foreign language (written and spoken)
  • Experience in market research and/or finance preferred
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Self-directed problem solver with the ability to work independently
  • Team-oriented with strong interpersonal abilities
  • Comfortable working in an interdisciplinary research environment

Our offer

The position will start in April, 2026 and is limited to 1 year. We offer an interesting job in an open-minded team, a responsible and varied workplace in a growing interdisciplinary and international research institute. The payment for the position is made in accordance with your experience and qualifications of the collective agreement for the public service (TVöD-Bund).
